From November to March, the Bahamas embrace a milder, temperate climate that attracts travelers from all walks of life. Though the days become shorter—around seven hours of daylight—they remain intensely sunny, offering plenty of time for outdoor adventures.

The Bahamas archipelago unfolds across 700 islands and islets, embraced by a tropical climate stretching from Florida's southeastern coast to the northern Turks and Caicos Islands. Sunshine graces these shores throughout the year. Imagine celebrating the festive season beside turquoise waters.

From November through April, San Salvador Island (known as Columbus Island) welcomes you with average temperatures of 24°C, while the sea remains a warm 25°C. Until spring arrives, pure relaxation awaits.

Settle onto a white sand beach and let yourself be captivated by the turquoise waters surrounding this island, protected by a coral reef concealing rich marine life. During these months, visibility becomes ideal for diving adventures. The island's surface is actually the summit of a 4,500-metre underwater mountain, where you'll explore breathtaking drop-offs revealing grouper, hammerhead sharks, rays, plus canyons adorned with gorgonians and sponges.

3 - The Bahamas In summer

Summer escape to discover Bahamian nature

If you're wondering when to visit the Bahamas to enjoy a holiday under tropical warmth, plan your stay between June and October. This period marks the rainy season, but unlike some Caribbean destinations, rainfall never exceeds 10 mm monthly. The average temperature of 29°C and the gentle breeze of trade winds promise a warm and pleasant atmosphere for your getaway.

Each day invites you to explore a different white sand beach, and to discover the landscapes of San Salvador Island. Between saltwater lagoons and rolling hills, the atoll reveals its central lake and reserve that shelters numerous bird species to observe during a hike.

Don't miss a day on the white sand beach of Long Bay. Its calm waters witnessed the arrival of Christopher Columbus, and a large white cross was erected to commemorate this historical moment. In summer for a relaxing stay in the heart of tropical warmth.

The rainy season, perfect for diving

Visiting during the rainy season, which spans from June to November? Not to worry. Tropical showers often arrive as quick passing storms, so underwater visibility stays remarkably clear. With water temperatures averaging 29°C, it is the perfect time to explore the fascinating shipwrecks resting on San Salvador's seabed.

Off the coast of Green Cay, the wreck of the Brig Enterprise shelters a population of colourful fish, just like the Columbian wreck near North Point. Set off on a cruise to explore these spots and treat yourself to a detour by the Movie Caves at Fernandez Bay and the double cavern of Sandy Point, alive with coral, magnificent sponges, and even sharks.

Finally, the most experienced divers can savour dizzying descents along the underwater walls of this submerged mountain. You'll glide among spectacular arches and crevices and can take a path through the rock at 40 metres for a 30-metre route leading to a chimney that opens onto the vastness of the ocean.

4 - Northwest and Southeast islands

When to visit the northwest islands?

Located less than a hundred kilometres from Florida, the northwestern Bahamas, including Grand Bahama Island in Freeport, Bimini, and the Abaco Islands. From November to April, expect cooler days with lows of 16°C and highs of 27°C.

If you crave warmth, plan your visit between May and October, when temperatures can soar to 32°C. You can also explore Nassau, the nation’s capital on New Providence Island, which enjoys its own welcoming climate and a blend of historical charm, modern amenities, and easy access to pristine beaches.

Junkanoo Carnival

The Junkanoo carnival in Nassau is an annual tradition that unfolds between December 26 and January 1. This Bahamian celebration dates back to the 16th century. If you explore the capital during this period, you can marvel at the magnificent costumes during the parades.
