An Unforgettable Ski Experience. Excellence in Every Detail!
I recently returned from an incredible ski vacation at Club Med Alpe d'Huez and it exceeded all my expectations.
The food was outstanding.
gourmet buffets with a huge variety of international and local French cuisine.
The open bar and après-ski snacks were the perfect way to end a day on the slopes.
The ski-in/ski-out convenience is a game changer.
The ski lessons included in the package were excellent.
the instructors (ESF) were professional, patient, and really helped me improve my technique while showing us the best spots in the Alpe d'Huez domain.
Highly recommended!

Amazing ski holidays
It's second time in Club Med Alpe d'Huez. It's true Ski-In Ski-Out, with possibility to access hotel from Green (magic carpet) and Blue slopes. All chairlifts / gondolas are just 30 seconds ski away from resort, which makes it so easy to go to variety of slopes without extra waiting.
Overall hotel was clean, food decent and with solid selection.

Couple skiing
We’ve had a great week. Our room was fabulous, food lovely, staff friendly and there if needed. The skiing was fabulous and the lockers more than adequate for our skis, boots and helmets.
We know it’s a family hotel but our only reason for giving only 4 stars was there was nowhere for just adults. You take what you want from the shows etc and there were plenty of children running around - with parent ignoring them - fine, the theatre area is a multi use place - we get that! My mine issue is in the restaurant - children were still running around in there, so lucky there wasn’t an accident with hot food or drinks! It would be great if there was an area in the restaurant that was adults only. Other than that it was a really good week.

An absolutely exceptional stay at Club Med Alpe d’Huez!
From the moment I arrived, the welcome was outstanding. Everyone was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive — from the front desk to the Chef de Village. You immediately feel welcomed and well taken care of.
A very special mention goes to the restaurant team, who truly made this stay unforgettable. Alexio, the manager, Irène, and the entire service staff were simply amazing. Their professionalism, availability, friendliness, and constant smiles exceeded all expectations. The level of service was exceptional at every meal.
Thanks to them, this experience was truly memorable. I highly recommend Club Med Alpe d’Huez without hesitation, and a huge thank you to the entire restaurant team for such a magical stay🙏🏾.

Great experience for our needs with reliable baby care and great skiing.
An extremely conveniently located ski-in, ski-out hotel with beautiful views and plentiful food options at a high quality (especially considering it is all-inclusive). Included drinks are also generous (includes "premium" cocktails like negroni etc, even if using house spirits). Room was clean, comfy bed (no idea why the pillows were half the standard size though?) and useful for baby eg travel cot and bottle warmer (if needed) available on attendance. Transfers etc well organised, despite the airline losing our luggage - fortunately turned up later that evening. The ski room was well stocked and maintained with very helpful staff. The ski resort itself is also fantastic with plenty of pistes, restaurants and off piste options.
The main reason we chose club med was the family friendly style approach that was advertised - baby club med is excellent with a wide range of activities and detailed summary of the day that your little one had - big shout out to Beatrice who was a star! There were also plenty of other baby/child related amenities that were great including a small play area and some afternoon activities aimed at 3-8 year olds like bouncy castles, sweet treats, face painting, family photography etc - these were fantastically well received from what I saw and again a great reason to come if you have kids.
These are all the fundamental points of the hotel for us that meant we had a great time - hence the four stars! The following points all make up a much smaller part of the overall experience but am sharing in case others decide these are important to them, or for management to take a look into - and meant it couldn't quite be five stars for us.
I don't have much experience with group ski lessons but they seemed more like guided tours than actual lessons - whilst very friendly, one instructor told me that the teaching is intended to be generic for that level rather than specifically teaching individuals. We turned up at the alloted time for one lesson midway through the week only to be told that the group had decided amongst themselves (in a previous lesson) to leave 15-30 minutes earlier than scheduled. Perhaps my misunderstanding that they were intended to be flexible rather than a commitment for the week, but pretty annoying nevertheless.
As other reviews note, it is generally a loud, party atmosphere from c. 5pm onwards. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you, but can conflict with the child friendly nature of the place. Our room itself was quiet throughout, however, and we were often in bed early so didn't really cause a problem for us. If you want a quiet relaxed evening, the gourmet restaurant upstairs may be a better option, but availability is limited. Generally I found the vast majority of other guests to be warm, genuine and friendly, though we did predominantly speak to families with children the same age as us (1-3). There were a lot of 10-15 year olds left to their own devices which again should be borne in mind. If you want to spend your evenings outside of your room, it will be tough to avoid them.
Also as noted in a separate review, 7pm being the earliest you can feed your baby/child is quite ridiculous and not at all aligned with the generally advertised theme of being baby friendly. I don't know if this is a European/French thing but doesn't align with our (and seemingly other guests) expectations and caused some stress on our baby's schedule. This was the main downside of the stay.
95% of the staff are incredibly friendly, jokey, welcoming and willing to help out as much as possible, however one or two seem offended that you've asked them for help, guidance, or dared to ask for a reservation at the gourmet restaurant. There was sometimes a lack of consistency in approach (eg one staff member letting us into the restaurant before 7pm with our baby only for us to be aggressively scolded by another staff member for trying to get some food for her!)
The toddler pool and general pool area is also too cold to spend any length of time in. The main pool is also pretty chilly but understandable if you wanted to swim lengths etc.
Overall we did have an excellent time and it is one of the only real options we saw to go skiing with our little one. Many of the downsides you read in these reviews are true but it is up to you how much this bothers you. All things said though, I don't think I'd spend this amount of money if I didn't have children, but it absolutely worked for us.
PS If management are reading this please can you make the wristband fobs work to open doors/lockers at a distance of more than 1mm!
