Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

We had such an amazing week at Club Med Miches! I went with my parents, brother and his girlfriend and had the best time! We met Bryan when we were checking in and he was so professional and knowledgeable! We enjoyed multiple dinners with him and he made our trip amazing! I did multiple workout classes with Jacqueline and she was incredible! Uriel was great with yoga and was so kind! Roman the tennis GO was a big part of our week and he truly went above and beyond for us! Some other shoutouts to Raul, Henrique, Simon, Gabrielle, Allan, Gabo and Jonathan who all made our week great! The food was also great with a huge variety and amazing fresh fruit! Our vacation was full of laughs, new friendships, and great weather! I’m already planning my next trip back!

What a memorable week! We stayed in Explorer Cove, which is conveniently located near the pool, theatre and restaurant but far enough away that it was quiet. Our room was clean, room waters refilled every day, even snacks provided, plus evening turn down service! The food was always delicious and the cooks friendly and helpful. As usual, the location was top notch and very private.
The best part for my family (me, hubby, and 3 twenty-somethings) are the GOs and sports. We liked the variety of sports and were able to try a few new ones. We shared many meals with GOs, which is one of the reasons we love Club Med. We enjoy hearing about their home countries and how they are similar/different to the USA. Jaqueline and Gabrielle have moved onto their next club and are not only fabulous yoga and fitness instructors but fun and caring GOs with big smiles for us. We really connected with Bryan (housekeeping) and Roman (tennis) who were a delight to share meals, dances, and laughs. We gave them the biggest tearful good-byes and hope they can visit us sometime at our home. After a week of good food, entertainment, gorgeous location, and wonderful GOs, we hated to leave - and still deeply miss Miches almost 3 weeks later!

Punta Cana has many resorts by the Airport but for a change in scenery and a more relaxing and upscale stay, we tried Club Med Miches Playa. Note that the Club is about 90 minute drive from PUJ airport but when you arrive at the Club you will notice a more laid back atmosphere without any loss of services. The rooms that we checked into were roomy and comfortable. The outdoor decks were a nice touch. Club Med Miches is just the right size so that the accommodations are well located to all the amenities. We were a family of 4 with two being in their twenties. They appreciated the water activities but really enjoyed the Trapeze which they did every day. Of course, you have the standard of tennis, pickleball, mini golf, and archery as well. But the young adults found the Trapeze to be the most exciting and I think much of that had to do with the GO’s (people who entertain the guests and run the activities). Curt, Carmen, Michele?, and Nacho went above and beyond to insure that my kids had a great time. We felt like they were part of our family during that vacation. (Curt is an especially interesting and awesome individual). He had dinner with us which made that meal quite memorable.
My wife and I did more of the guided walks, meditation, and yoga. I have not done yoga before so it was nice introduction. I would recommend the guided walks to see the beauty of the geography outside of Club Med with the pristine beaches and mountains in the background. We did try one excursion with the electric surfboard. It was a blast and was very well run.
The Club facilities, beaches, pools etc were well maintained and clean. Security is not a concern at all. They were pretty much everywhere but unobtrusive. The Club also has night time shows and activities (dancing) geared to be more entertaining than spectacular which was fine by me.
Now the food. First the good. The food variety was quite good and quality was decent. Over our stay, they served a variety of steaks, seafood, birds, and many vegetarian options as well. Now, the not so good. The downside is that we went when they were doing renovations to the main dining hall and restaurants. All guests had to dine in one location (Coco Plum). I believe this affected the quality and variety to a degree but I would not know since I did not get to have the full experience of their dining options. We were looking forward to dining at the Coal and Copper Restaurant but oh well, maybe next time. I should mention that there is a Cafe near the Clubhouse. It is a quiet place for a cup of coffee and a snack. All in all, we had a wonderful time at Club Med Miches.
