This trip confirmed Club Med, La Plagne 2100, is the place to take your skiing to the next level - at all levels - under the tutelage of a superb team of ESF instructors, led by a really good guy called Sebastien.
His team has great strength in depth and an amazing ethos. All the instructors are super motivated to help you achieve your goals - a culture I found was promoted brilliantly by Sebastien, who always has time for you. I was even lucky enough to ski with him (just behind) for a little time.
My group sessions were with the wonderful Lolo, who kept a smile on her face - and mine - however many times she had to pick me up off the snow when trying new techniques. A friendly, patient instructor with boundless energy and excellent teaching by demonstration, who helped me out loads. Shout out Lolo - thanks for having me!!
I had some private lessons with “Jano” (Jean-Noel). This guy really drilled what Lolo had been teaching me, straightening out my errors. There’s nothing like 1-on-1 tuition from him, to work on specific things you need to. Tip: he seems to really love the candy floss flavour ice cream this Club Med has to offer, so if you want to show him some gratitude for his efforts, bring him a bowl at lunch and dinner.
The "God Father" of Club Med as they call him, Antoine, also chipped in with some great tips and advice, helping me go off-piste. I even managed a successful, if less than graceful, small rock/pebble jump by the end of the week thanks to his encouragement. And Fanou - the little man, apparently with the biggest pair of boots on the resort - also popped over when he saw me out skiing alone, to give some advice and keep me on the right track. His close colleague, Ricard, added to the fun.
Last but not least... JJ “Le Beast”, who had taught me before, remembered me on sight and came over to check how I was doing, which I thought was impressive. This team is clearly invested in your progress and making sure you get the most out of your time here. JJ also made a special effort to introduce me to new people on the resort this time round, making for an even better experience!
Chef de Village, Eric, and his team of GO’s were on their usual great form around the place, adding to another memorable visit to this high calibre, ski-in, ski-out venue.
À bientôt!
