Must-see places for the whole family
From the vestiges of the past to snow-capped peaks, from the purity of lakes to the immensity of forests, Canada is a land of adventurers. From your Resort Club Med Québec Charlevoix, discover the countless beauties of the land of the maple leaf.
In Quebec, a paradise for hikers and backpackers, immerse yourself in the wide-open spaces of a thousand colors. In the midst of these landscapes, punctuated by the seasons, exceptional flora and fauna promise great sensations. During your stay in Canada, oscillate between natural adventures and sporting activities, and in the parks, discover some of the most beautiful scenery in North America.
Canada in winter
Immersion in a white paradise
A northern country of snow-capped peaks, frozen lakes and northern lights, Canada is a paradise for lovers of winter sensations.
Forests and hills are dressed in white and become a playground for winter sports enthusiasts. Snowshoe hikes, downhill runs and trail crossings await you at this time of year.
In the forest of the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix, strap on your cross-country skis and glide through the birch and pine trees of Eastern Canada.
Opposite these white peaks, the St. Lawrence River also offers wilderness adventures. Brave Canada's cold and embark on a kayak journey around these frozen landscapes.
Summer in Canada: a green getaway
As the first days of summer warm Canada's forests and the nights grow shorter, sumptuous hues are revealed. Great expanses of white give way to brilliant hues. Landforms thaw, rivers flow and all nature offers new adventures.
Sail the St. Lawrence River from the Resort Club Med Charlevoix or admire the view of the entire region from the summit of Mont à Liguori.
And as the seasons extend, extend your stay in Canada to enjoy the Indian summer. Midway between autumn and winter, during this mild period, coniferous forests illuminate the landscape with their many colors.
Wildlife tips: 1. Animal watching at Réserve des Laurentides
To get up close to some of North America's most emblematic animals, head for Réserve des Laurentides.
Here, in the heart of the coniferous forests, unique wildlife proliferates. In winter by snowmobile or in summer on the trails, accompanied by a guide, explore the park and meet moose, beavers, black bears and other animals. This protected area, between mountain ranges, lakes and woods, is a must-see during your stay in Canada.
Wildlife tips: 2. Meet the belugas
Meet the belugas at the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park
As the gateway to Eastern Canada, the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park is home to many inhabitants. Embark at the mouth of the Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay and the river and set out to meet the cetaceans.
After a long expedition, you'll be able to spot belugas and whales. In a kayak, a pleasure boat or on a cruise, sail alongside these queens of the sea. Watch them leap and bounce through the waters of the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, and discover a fascinating spectacle.
Taste the authenticity of Québec City
On the shores of the St. Lawrence, Quebec City is like a mirage of the old continent.
It was here in the regional capital that the first French settlers set foot on Canadian soil. Centuries later, the architecture, monuments and ramparts still bear witness to this history.
Stroll through the narrow streets and typical houses of the Petit-Champlain district. Take a tour of Château Frontenac and push open the doors of Notre-Dame-de-Québec Cathedral. The atmosphere of "la vieille capitale" promises a journey through time.
Skiing in the Massif de Charlevoix
In winter, above the banks of the St. Lawrence River, the slopes of Charlevoix don their white mantle. It's the perfect time for winter sports enthusiasts to take to the slopes at Le Massif.
Put on your skis, polish your snowboard or strap on your toboggan. From your resort, a cable car takes you up to the peaks of Eastern Canada. Once you're up there, let yourself be carried away by the vertical drops and enjoy a breathtaking view of the frozen river.
During your stay in the midst of Canada's white wilderness, pick up the pace and fill up on sensations.
Isle-aux-Coudres
Between the Laurentians and the Appalachians, protected by the waves of the St. Lawrence, a small piece of land has retained its charm of yesteryear.
With its wildflower plains, old Canadian stone houses and windmills, Isle-aux-Coudres is one of the most beautiful islands in Eastern Canada.
Kayak from Baie-Saint-Paul or Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive to these indented beaches. After paddling, hop on a bike for a complete tour of the island's 23 km of trails. And if you get the munchies in between pedaling, the island is bursting with sweet treats to sample in one of its bakeries.
Snowmobiling through Onatchiway
All winter long around Onatchiway, the snow piles up and the lakes and rivers freeze over.
In this immaculate white world, only the green tops of the fir trees can be seen. Admire this polar-like spectacle from the seat of a snowmobile.
Cut through layers of powder, pick up speed and skate over frozen streams. When you're in Canada, winter is the season for thrilling activities.
Lounging on the Pohénégamook beach
Even in the most northerly of lands, there are postcard-perfect beaches.
With its white sands and green hills, Pohénégamook is the ideal place to relax in the heart of Canada. Soak up the sun as you laze on the sand, or take a dip in the fresh water.
Lying on the beach or with your feet in the lake, Pohénégamook offers you a journey into paradise.
