The new pool area of Club Med Cancun is open, with plenty of places to chill and a new bar. Taco Arte was under renovation when I visited, so there was some construction noise, but it wasn't bad, and there were several restaurant, snack, and bar options.

Despina welcomed me back to Club Med and provided the resort instructions. My room was spacious, had a view of the inner lagoon, and the sunset view from the room was insane.

As it is the end of whale shark season, I went to see Adriana at the Excursion office to book an excursion for early in the week.

I joined Allan's and Carla's Aqua gym classes, and they were fantastic. The new pool now hosts Aqua gym and Crazy signs, while the Aquamarina pool has a chill vibe and still serves food. Jose makes amazing mango smoothies. Because of the season, occupancy was low, and most of the time there were probably fewer than 10 people at the Aquamarina pool.

The day I arrived, the regatta had been rescheduled to Friday because of the wind; it usually occurs on Thursday. It was a really fun experience.

Paulo, Max, Italia, and Will were one of the main reasons I decided to return. They make a great team and are fantastic instructors. We had a couple of days of low winds in the morning, so I took a stab at paddle boarding; it was really fun. Then over several days I learned and experimented with how to fly with the Hobi Cat. Thank you, Max, for teaching me, and Italia and Will for giving me the courage to go for it.

Thanks to Julio, I improved my backhand swing in Pickleball. He is a great instructor, and the classes were 3-5 people, so we each got plenty of opportunities to practice. He took the time to correct our moves in the moment, which was really helpful.

Thank you, Paulo, Max, Italia, Will, Julio, Despina, Carla, and many others for making the stay so memorable.

Didn't quite know what to expect for my first time in Cancun, at the Club. I knew it was a large club. But staying at the Aquamarine and having to take the little shuttle every day twice and more a day, with its 16 road bumps... that was aggravating. But had I known, I would have asked to stay in the renovated rooms close to all! The Go's team though was just the best I've had in many many Club Med stays! Wow. At the restaurant: Carla, at the entrance, a gem! Maria, who served us almost all week.. thank you for your beautiful smile and the tequila!!!! (joke...) At the pool, Isidro and Jesus! Thank you so much for your service! Julie, merci de m'offrir de changer de chambre... Loulou, je t'adore! Merci pour tout! Jorge, barman à Aguamarine, mochas gracias for todo! Too bad the sea was not at its best, but that's nature. Mexico is always a pleasure to be. gros gros merci à tous!

We stayed at Aguamarina with our two kids, 1 and 3 years old. Our expectations were low for our vacation because the prior time we'd attempted a trip elsewhere with our kids was a disaster, and my wife had read a lot of the negative reviews about this place (though the majority were actually positive).

To start, we were pleasantly surprised by how easy the airport transfer was. Two resort employees were waiting for us, took all of our bags off of our hands immediately, and shuttled us in a clean, air conditioned van. The resort is super close to the airport, and the arrival at the Aguamarina reception was also very smooth and simple. There was zero upselling at any point, just nice explanations of all of the included activities we could take advantage of. The Aguamarina are in general is wonderful for kids with the kids clubs very close to the rooms which are also close to the pool, splash pad, water slides, etc.

We were a bit worried that the walk to the main resort buildings would be onerous due to reading prior reviews, but the walk was actually less than ten minutes. Plus there are near constant shuttles available (pretty bumpy ride with all of the speed bumps).

The main restaurant, the Hacienda, had very impressive views and a wonderful spread for every meal.

All employees were very nice and constantly looking to make our stay better. The most impressive part of the stay for us was the professionalism and competence of the Petit club med and baby club med employees. These women did such an amazing job that my wife actually felt comfortable leaving the kids all day (difficult for her) and having fun with me taking pickleball and sailing classes. They had really thought of everything and kept the kids busy with activities. They even take the kids to the restaurant for lunch so you can enjoy your lunch in peace.

All activity instructors we worked with were real professionals and very skilled at teaching their activity and keeping it fun.

Although we were concerned about the beech seaweed common in September in Cancun, we were pleasantly surprised that this resort has beaches facing in every direction. The seaweed tends to get pushed in from one direction at a time. So if one beach is out of commission, there are others to go to which are fine.

Finally, we'd read complaints that the resort was run down. I would not describe it that way. Our room at the Aguamarina was nice and spacious, and all of the common facilities were nice.
