Cancún

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience and are particularly thankful to Ismael who made sure we had a great time and that this was a memorable experience; a great professional in the club med tradition, super knowledgable about all the sports and activities, fun, funny and filled with positive energy! Also to Julio and his great, fun pickleball class and advise and company during dinners. This is my third time at club med cancun and first time with my teenager daughter who absolutely loved it and is already asking to go back to club med in pristine, caribbean cancun waters.

We decided to try club med Cancun after a super stay at Ixtapa last year. I would give Cancun 3.5 stars. Cancun has an awesome beach. You can snorkel and see fish when the water is knee deep. There are also multiple beaches so we did not encounter any seaweed at the main beach. The waterslide was also a ton of fun for kids.

The food was quite disappointing. Breakfast was the same for 7 days straight. The buffet had a ton of repeats and food was just okay. Paella every other day. The beef and steak at both the buffet and steakhouse were super tough and not chewable. My husband did not eat his steak at all. Ixtapa had much better food and tons of variety.

Service was also very mediocre. The first room we had was super humid and dripping wet on the floor so we had to switch. One night someone knocked on all the doors in our hallway at 3:00 am trying to get us to open the door. When we tried to call the front desk from the tablet we found out none of them worked. We had two connecting rooms. When I went to report this security issue to the front desk the next day since there was apparently no way to reach the front desk other than through the tablet, it took me 3 visits to the front desk before it was finally fixed. Requests for things like blanket or air con issues took multiple requests. The shower at the water park was broken and never fixed the whole time we were there. No towel service at the water park so you had to walk 5 minutes to the aquamarine pool and back each time you wanted new towels. There was only one or two waiters who would ask for your drink order at the buffet. The others just kind of ignored you until you flagged them down. Ixtapa staff was way more responsive and we were constantly served at the buffet. Also no umbrellas or games or cards available at the front desk. Ixtapa had all of these.

It was a nice facility but honestly for the price I would try another Cancun resort in the future. If we went to club med Cancun first before Ixtapa I’m not sure we would have done another club med. Management really needs to train the staff better.

Our family of four, spanning three generations with our six-year-old and grandma in tow, recently spent a wonderful week at Club Med Cancun during the busy 4th of July period. Having previously stayed at Club Med Punta Cana twice, we came with certain expectations and found Cancun to offer a distinctly different but equally enjoyable experience.

We split our stay between an Oasis family suite and a room in the Jade area, both of which exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were impeccably clean and thoughtfully appointed, featuring lovely views that made morning coffee and evening wind-downs truly special. The proximity to both the pristine ocean beach and the resort’s pools proved invaluable with our multi-generational group, allowing easy access for quick room breaks and gear changes throughout the day.

The food quality was solid and certainly satisfied our diverse family palate, though there’s room for improvement that could elevate the culinary experience. With a six-year-old and grandma to please alongside adult tastes, we appreciated the variety available, even if the execution didn’t always reach the heights we’ve experienced elsewhere.

Where Club Med Cancun truly shines is in its exceptional staff. Every employee we encountered radiated genuine warmth, greeting guests with consistent smiles and hellos that made everyone from our youngest to our oldest family member feel welcomed and valued. This level of consistent, authentic hospitality significantly enhanced our overall experience and created the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes Club Med special.

Cancun presents a more intimate experience compared to Club Med Punta Cana, feeling distinctly smaller with well-defined areas that create a sense of discovery and variety. While Punta Cana sprawls around its magnificent beach as one expansive resort, Cancun’s more compartmentalized layout offers a different, more navigable environment that worked well for our family group.

One area where Cancun fell somewhat short was in family programming and entertainment. The resort lacked the extensive family offerings and regular after-dinner kids’ shows that had been highlights of our previous stays at Club Med Punta Cana. While this could potentially be attributed to seasonal variations, it was a noticeable absence that was a bit disappointing.

The absolute highlight of our trip was the on-site scuba diving operation run by Ancila. From the moment I walked into their shop, Monica and Charles provided exceptional service, taking time to match me with great diving experiences. Shout out to their dive guide Paco who proved to be an absolute gem—knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and skilled at showcasing the underwater treasures of the Caribbean reefs and stunning Cenotes.

The convenience of having a top-tier dive operation on-site cannot be overstated. The seamless access to boats, combined with efficient transportation to more distant dive sites, eliminated the usual hassles of coordinating diving excursions. The equipment was pristine and professional-grade, and the entire operation felt expertly managed and safety-focused.

Club Med Cancun delivered a memorable family vacation that successfully accommodated our multi-generational group’s needs. While the family programming was more limited than other Club Med properties, the intimate atmosphere, exceptional service, and world-class diving opportunities made for a thoroughly enjoyable week.

From the reception- Sandra, Chris, and Michelle, who got us oriented, to the great team at Tacos de Arte, especially the breakfast group, and all the wonderful people at the kids club we had a great time. Great kids activities.

Excellent week at Club Med Cancun. My 13yr old daughter and I loved the resort, staff, food. We did the yoga every day with Magali, and were regulars at the PickleBall courts - enjoying the many lessons and fun tournaments! Special call
